Open competition for the position of the Head of the Department of Seismotectonics
The director of the Institute of Rock Structure and Mechanics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, in accordance with the Act No.283/1992 On the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, as amended by the Act No. 420/2005, and in accordance with the Statute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, announces an open competition for the position of the Head of the Department of Seismotectonics. The successful candidate will be responsible for the conception, planning and successful development of the scientific activities of the Department of Seismotectonics using the human and equipment potential of the department. He will be responsible for the results and outputs of the department. The applications must be delivered to abovesaid contacts by 23:59 on 2nd of March 2014 at the latest.
Requirements
- scientific degree Ph.D. or
higher in relevant field (geophysics, geoscience, geodynamics, geology, etc.)
- written motivation letter,
explaining the motives and potential contribution of the candidate to the research team of the
IRSM
- presentation of candidate's
most significant scientific achievements and results from last 10 years
- elaboration of a detailed
concept of the future development of the Department of Seismotectonics
- proved experience in leading a
research team (10 – 15 members), for example grant projects, organization units or teams
- all materials should be
prepared in English
Selection procedure
The materials delivered by the candidates shall be evaluated by the Selection committee,
appointed by the director of the Institute. The Selection committee will select the most suitable
candidates, who will be invited to present themselves at the oral interview with the Selection
committee. The interview will be held during March 2014, and will be conducted in English or Czech
language.
The successful candidate is expected to commence the job on the 1
st of April 2014. The work contract will be concluded to 3 - 5 years. The Institute may
arrange an accommodation for the successful candidate.
